Over the next few weeks and months we’re going to try linking to some other interesting articles. We’ll put the highlights here and then provide a link to take you to the full story.

Over the weekend the USA TODAY ran a story about the importance of diversification in a portfolio. Diversification simply means not putting all your eggs in one basket. From the article:

“There’s no question it’s been a disappointing decade for stock investors. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index returned just 1.4% a year on average between January 1, 2001 and Nov.30, 2011, says money management firm IFA.com. But investors who created a diversified portfolio, containing among other things a 40% weighting in bonds, saw an average annual return of 5.7% during that same period, IFA says.”

We believe strongly in diversification and would be happy to talk with you one on one about what that means in your specific case. Give us a call at 800-563-8301 and we’d be happy to discuss this further.
